Winter Language Classes
Buon Giorno from the Murer House!
The Murer House foundation continues its Italian language classes at the Murer House Learning Center, 1125 Joe Murer Court, in old Folsom. Students can learn Italian in small, supportive classes designed to maximize contact with the teacher.
Classes are eight weeks in duration.

Intermediate Conversational with Jim - In Person
Thursdays starting January 16th - March 6th; 3:00 - 4:30 pm
Practice makes perfect. Grow your Italian skills and cultural awareness! With classwork focused on open conversation, interesting stories and Italian songs, your vocabulary will grow along with your oral comprehension, pronunciation skills and your ability to speak. This class relies on materials sent out before every class, allowing students time to prepare and does not require the Prego textbook.
Italian, Level 1 (Italiano uno) with Norma - In Person
Wednesdays starting January 15th - March 5th; 3:00 - 4:30 pm
This class is for students with little or no knowledge of Italian. Some of the topics covered are pronunciation, basic greetings, introductions, numbers, months, days and basic vocabulary. The emphasis will be on developing oral communication. The ultimate goal is to have fun and enjoy the learning process!
This class utilizes the Prego! textbook.
Italian, Level 2 (Italiano due) with Ellie - In Person
Thursdays starting January 9th - February 27th; 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Italiano 2 is for students with a basic knowledge of vocabulary and who understand how to formulate a simple sentence. Ideally students would have covered the preliminary and chapter one of the Prego! text. Basic language skills and pronunciation are continuously practiced. Italiano 2 continues to present culture while developing at level communication skills as guided by chapter 2. The goals are to have fun and enjoy learning while acquiring effective communication in Italian
Italian, Level 4 (Italiano quattro) with Ellie - In Person
Mondays starting January 6th - February 24th; 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Italiano 4 is for students with a base knowledge of vocabulary and who know how to formulate simple sentences in the present tense. This course allows students to explore the present tense fully while learning new language concepts as guided by chapter 4 in Prego! 6th ed. Italiano 4 continues to explore the understanding of culture especially as witnessed through language and current events. An important goal is to enjoy, have fun learning while acquiring effective communication in Italian.

Italian Level 3 Class (Italiano Tre) with Ellie - In Person - SOLD OUT
Mondays starting September 9th - October 28th; 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Italiano 3 is for students who have a basic knowledge of vocabulary and who know how to form simple sentences. Ideally students would have covered the first two chapters of the Prego! book. Basic conversation skills are strengthened in this class and pronunciation is continuously practiced. Italiano 3 will continue to explore culture and develop practical communication skills as guided by chapter 3. The goals are to have fun and enjoy learning while acquiring effective communication in Italian.
Beginning Italian (Italiano Uno) with Ellie - In Person - SOLD OUT
Mondays starting March 11th - April 29th; 5:00 - 6:30 pm
This class is for people with little or no knowledge of Italian. Some of the topics covered are pronunciation, basic greetings and conversation, numbers, months and days, and basic vocabulary. The emphasis will be on developing oral communication. The ultimate goal is to have fun and enjoy the learning process! This class utilizes the Prego! textbook.
Italian Level 12 (Italiano Dodici) with Lorella - Remote via Zoom
Mondays starting March 25th - May 13th; 5:00 - 6:30 pm
This intermediate class is for students who have already covered the present tense, direct and indirect object pronouns, ci and ne, double pronouns, past tense, imperfect, reflexive verbs and piacere verb. More complex grammar topics will be covered, and students will work towards improving their speaking and listening skills. This class is slow paced so you can assimilate the grammar rules through speaking and listening activities.
Student fees are $170 or $155 with a member discount. Student fees are payable to “The Murer House Foundation” and are due at the first class. Student fees are non-refundable. If an exception is made, the refund would be less the merchant processing fee.
The textbook used for all the language classes is Prego! 6th Edition and can be purchased used online on Amazon.com. For Travelers and Intermediate Conversational, please contact the instructor for more information.
